Established in 2010 by Karel Van Der Linden and his wife, Mari-Elena, Fly High Lexington is proud to serve Davidson County and the cities of Lexington and Thomasville.

Karel who will run the operational team brings more than 25 years of experience in financial and operational management gained in diverse accounting, aviation, Fixed Base Operations, hotels and casinos. Most recently Karel served Mercury Air Centers, a collection of 30 Fixed Base Operations as Vice President, Corporate Controller and Officer. He was also Vice President, Finance and Interim Manager for Air Aruba, N.V.

Mari-Elena who will oversee the marketing and public relations efforts brings more than 20 years in sales and marketing mainly within the hospitality industry. She currently serves as Director of Island Spice, Inc. a sales and marketing firm representing a collection of upscale resorts in the Caribbean.

Karel and Mari-Elena are joined by their daughter, Kareline, who is away at college and their two sons, Alexander, 13 and Brandon, 10.

Davidson County Airport

Davidson County Airport was founded by Joe Dillard as a grass strip of 1000 feet in 1958. In 1967 the City of Lexington became the sponsoring agency and in 1993 Davidson County became the sponsoring agency. In 1998 the airport expanded to a 5000 foot runaway with a parallel taxiway and ramp. The total project cost was $14 million and it was completed in 2000.

Today the airport has expanded to include 50 T-hangars, 6 corporate hangars and 2 private corporate hangars.
